We recently received a correspondence from a long time loyal Lehigh customer named Mindy. Mindy has been a long-time fan of our Lehigh Swampers products such as our stock # 1107. As a matter of fact, she stated that she has ordered several pair of this style over the years. 

The Lehigh Swampers stock # 1107 is a relatively unique product in that it has a TPU (thermoplastic urethane) lower foot portion with a leather shaft.  The 1107’s TPU foot portion is ideal in work environments where leather tends to be attacked.  Chemicals can help turn leather hard and brittle leading it to crack.  The TPU foot of the 1107 tends to resist the chemicals providing extra chemical resistance in this area in addition to that provided by its outsole.      

Some people may wear our Swampers products or similar Georgia Boots Muddog products just because they like them for what they are.  However, it should be pointed out that the outstanding chemical resistance provided by their TPU lower foot portions can make the boots less flexible and warmer due to the nature of their material.  It comes down once again to what is the right boot for your personal needs along with your work environment needs. 

So, if you are spending your time in a work environment that tends to attack leather and your boots are just not lasting, it is likely time to rethink the product you are wearing.  You can keep wearing all leather shoes and keep watching them break down.  Or you can possibly try Lehigh Swampers or Georgia Muddogs and see if the possible sacrifice is worth it to you.  You may even find out that you like them as much as Mindy does and also decide to reorder them each year. Thank you to Mindy and thank you to all of you for your interest in our products.
