Those of you that have read our Ask an Expert blog have likely caught on that I am a huge fan of our Georgia FLXPoint products because of their extreme flexibility and underfoot comfort. It was for that reason I did a double-take when we received some negative feedback from one of our customers regarding a FLXPoint style. My initial reaction was to think how could this customer possibly not care for our FLXPoint products. I am a person who really values the give of my work boots because I want them to help take the stress and strain away from my feet as I twist and turn during my work. However, I had to be reminded of something we frequently emphasize to our customers. We need to find the right boot for you and the right boot for me is not necessarily the right boot for you. As I thought more regarding this customer’s comments, it became very clear that the flexibility I actively seek in my footwear is not at all in line with what this customer is seeking. It was time for me to reshape my thinking and step in his shoes. I started thinking about some of our other product lines when all of a sudden some bells started ringing in my head. We offer a package of Rocky IronClan products that has sold very well through the years despite it not having a very flexible construction. In fact, not only is its construction not very flexible, it is actually extremely stiff. It is so stiff that it has made me wonder at times why it sells as well as it does because as I have made clear I personally like flexible footwear. This reminded of times when we have received specific requests for our most rigid stiff footwear and how the IronClad series would typically be right around the top of the list. While these stiff footwear requests are usually of a more personal preference, they also could possibly tie in with a particular type of work. I could see where some railroad workers could like IronClad footwear because of its toughness and hardness while walking on the ballast as well as their well defined right angled heel breast to aid in rung climbing. We have IronClad products in basic work boot styles as well as steel toe styles. You can see 6” and 8” lace-up versions as well as pull-on Wellington boot versions. There are numerous styles with waterproof features. Please check them out. They may be just what you are seeking.
