Lehigh Safety Shoes: TS-100 Steel Toe Work Oxford
5153
Lehigh Safety Shoe Co. has been providing protective toe footwear since the early 1920's initially under the name of Lehigh Rubber and Leather Company.
There have been many upgrades in technology over time allowing for better Lehigh products. One of the most significant new introductions by Lehigh through the years has been the introduction of the TS-100 steel toe cap in the 1970's.
The Lehigh TS-100 steel toe cap was made with a higher and wider design than traditional toe caps. This higher and wider design helped create protective toe footwear that exceeded the highest Protective Toe Footwear standards for Impact & Compression resistance by significant amounts. This has helped provide additional wearer safety from falling or rolling objects. Footwear with this toe cap has also been utilized by many people through the years who have wanted &/or physically needed more toe room than conventional toe caps provide.
While the TS-100 steel toe cap has continued to be a feature incorporated in various Lehigh products through the years, the footwear products utilizing them have been able to be improved because of other advances in technology and materials.
One style in particular utilizing the TS-100 steel toe cap that Lehigh has added to its line has been the Lehigh stock # 5153. In addition to the TS-100 steel toe cap, Lehigh stock # 5153 also has an exceptionally soft tumbled upper leather. The tumbling process performed by the leather tannery helps break-up and soften the leather lessening the break-in for the wearer.
In addition to the comfort of Lehigh stock # 5153's tumbled upper leather is the underfoot comfort provided by its contoured removable polyurethane cushion insole. The polyurethane material used in its insole is known for its cushioning while not bottoming out features. Some open celled foams feel very comfortable to the initial touch, but will tend to break down faster than a product made with polyurethane. Plus, this insole has an extra 1/2" thick cushion comfort that fits within a cored out inside heel area allowing extra cushioning at the heel strike area. This provides additional underfoot comfort to the wearer.
The Lehigh stock # 5153 cushioning continues with its polyurethane outsole. Its polyurethane material helps the sole give as it impacts the ground surfaces saving wear & tear on the body.
In addition to meeting the highest ASTM F2413-05 Impact & Compression standards, Lehigh stock # 5153 also complies with its Static Dissipative standards. Static Dissipative footwear is geared to those areas dealing with electronic component assembly, but also can be worn in work areas requiring only basic protective toe footwear.
