Lehigh Safety Shoes: 6” Lehigh Steel Toe Waterproof Swampers
1107 Lehigh Safety Shoe Co. has been providing protective toe safety shoes since the early 1920’s initially under the name of Lehigh Rubber and Leather Company. There have been many upgrades in technology over time allowing for better Lehigh products including waterproof styles. A key feature of the Lehigh stock # 1107 Work Boot is its Lehigh & Dri Waterproof construction. It combines a waterproof inner layer with the upper providing a barrier that helps keep water out and feet dry. However, the most significant feature of the Lehigh Swampers stock # 1107 work boot would be its TPU (thermoplastic urethane) lower foot portion. While the top portion of Swampers is made of leather, there are certain work environments that due to the nature of their chemicals and contaminants that tend to attack leather. Rather than wearing a work boot that has leather in the lower foot portion in a work environment that leads to leather to possibly become hard, brittle, and break; the Lehigh Swampers stock # 1107 with its TPU lower foot portion may be just what you are seeking. A key comfort feature of the 1107 is its contoured removable polyurethane cushion insole providing direct underfoot cushion comfort. The polyurethane material used in its insole is known for its cushioning while not bottoming out features. Some open celled foams feel very comfortable to the initial touch, but will tend to break down faster than a product made with polyurethane. Plus, it is extra thick in the heel contact area. This provides additional underfoot comfort to the wearer. In addition to meeting the highest ASTM F2413-05 Impact & Compression standards, Lehigh stock # 1107 also complies with its Electrical Hazard standards. This type of work boot is made with insulating bottoms providing secondary electrical hazard protection to those areas dealing with open circuits under dry conditions, but also can be worn in work areas requiring only basic protective toe work boots.
